Book Description: Henry Holt, New York, 1946. Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: good. First edition. First edition. Introduction by poet E. E. Cummings. This, a special copy, with original two page typed letter SIGNED by Herriman to journalist Roy Wilder, Jr. somewhat sloppily glued into book. Letter is dated June 1940. Letter is quite telling of Herriman's state of mind at the time regarding his own work, a feeling of a lack of real accomplishment. Also, laid into this copy is a eight page typescript of a long article on Herriman written by Roy Wilder, Jr. Typescript is hand-dated July 26, 1940. Not sure whether this article was ever published. A unique copy of this classic book. Letters by Herriman rarely appear on the market. Bookseller Inventory # 11686
