Impact of French SF Comics
At the request of Kyoto Seika University and the Kyoto International Manga Museum, we are able and very pleased to welcome two masters of BD (French comics)?Jean Claude Mézières and Pierre Christin. Mr. Mézières and Mr. Christin are the creators of the long-running series "Valérian and Laureline", a series that influenced the movie Star Wars.
The program aims to convey how the imagination inherent in SF manga and BD has spread, and consists of talk shows with Japan's top creators and an exhibition introducing their works.

As representative works by Mézières and Christin, a monument in SF comics?there is an exhibition of over twenty reproduced panels of the world of the series "Valérian and Laureline"

SF Manga/ BD from Japan & France
About thirty reproduced panels and volumes of Japanese SF manga that are popular in France, and French SF comics that have gained popularity recently will be introduced in the exhibition.
